Superframe was launched in 2004 by Mitch Robertson after working for other custom picture framers for seven years. Unlike the business model of other frame shops, Superframe does not operate a typical retail location, instead, you contact us to arrange an appointment. You can either visit our workshop and see all the samples available or arrange for a consultation in your home or office at no extra charge. From the roughly 1000 samples available, a smaller range is selected prior to the meeting based on your requests. The samples are then brought to you and together we work through what suits the piece, your taste and budget. The order is priced on the spot, you receive your copy of the invoice and the work is taken away. It returns framed generally within two weeks after we call to arrange a delivery time with you.
At Superframe we only use archival, cotton based mat board, archival hinges and hinging methods and will not use paper based mats or cardboard anywhere in the frame. We offer regular glass, UV filtering and anti-reflective Mirogard products and Plexiglas to protect your art. In addition to many fabricated mouldings, we offer custom milled ash, maple, walnut, cherry and oak frames, in any stain or paint colour.
Our framing mantra is to enhance and protect your art but not compete with it. We have no need to “up sell” or insist on large 22k gold frames for your humble watercolour, we offer an experienced opinion on what suits the work but always let you choose something you are comfortable with, both in terms of aesthetics and price.
